Frequently asked questions.
Do you provide the alcohol?
No. The Pouring District is a dry-hire mobile bar. That means we provide the bar setup, tools, mixers, garnishes, and professional bartenders—but the host is responsible for purchasing and supplying the alcohol.
Do I need a permit if I want to serve alcohol at my event?
It depends:
Beer and wine only (private event, no sales): No permit is required if the alcohol is provided by the host and the event is free to guests.
Hard liquor (spirits): Yes. If liquor is being served, the host must apply for a Limited Special Occasion Permit from the North Carolina ABC Commission.
How much does a permit cost, where do I apply and how long does it take?
The Limited Special Occasion Permit: costs $50. You must apply at least 14 days before your event. We recommend applying as soon as your event date is set to ensure approval in time. Permits are handled by the North Carolina ABC Commission. You can apply online at https://www.abc.nc.gov/permits-audit/general-permit-information/limited-special-occasion-and-special-one-time-permit-information.
What services do you provide?
We offer bartending services, including setting up the bar, mixing and serving drinks, and providing garnishes, recyclable plastic glassware, and tools. We also assist with drink menu planning and can recommend quantities of alcohol to purchase based on your guest count.
Can you help us choose the types and quantities of alcohol to buy?
Yes! We can offer recommendations for drink menus and provide a detailed list of how much alcohol, mixers, and other ingredients to purchase based on your event size and preferences.
Do you carry insurance?
Yes. The Pouring District carries Liquor Liability Insurance for your protection. However, insurance does not replace the need for permits. It is the host’s responsibility to obtain the required ABC permit when liquor is being served.

What do I need to provide for you at the event?

What if I don’t have a suitable bar space?
No worries! We have a portable bar that we can bring for an additional charge.
